The Wits City Institute in collaboration with the African Centre for Migration and Society hosted a public lecture addressed by visiting Mellon scholar Professor Ayse Caglar from the University of Vienna’s Department of Culture and Social Anthropology.

The Wits City Institute, in collaboration with the ACMS (African Centre for Migration and Society) hosted a visiting scholar, Ayse Calgar, of the Department for Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Vienna, Austria, at Wits University. Professor Caglar met with postgraduate students funded by the Wits City Institute and the ACMS, presented a public lecture titled ‘Movement, value and social justice in border cities’ and she participated in a panel discussion, jointly convened by the Wits City Institute and the ACMS titled ‘Reading and writing the city in relation to the politics of today.
